The woman asks me "how are you?" I don't know, should I tell her the truth? I say I can't stop passing gas And I can't get rid of this heartburn She says "too much information" and is grossed out I really don't know how to figure people out Sometimes I say the most inappropriate things But I try really hard to conform to society I thought it was an ordinary day I thought I looked pretty darn slick But I wore a shirt and pants the same color And my co-workers let me have it They said "Matt, do we need to have your wife dress you?" I said "You know what, she already does, thank you." Sometimes I do the most inappropriate things But I try really hard to conform to society Everybody pushes me to be normal But normal is relative, I'm normal to me Sometimes I say the most inappropriate things But I try really hard to conform to society Sometimes I do the most inappropriate things But I try really hard to conform to society

You never hesitate to take care of others You'll help strangers like sisters and brothers You go above and beyond To make others strong Your thankless job that doesn't pay you much Stresses you out, and sucks your life out And then you go home And the work's just begun But please don't forget to take care of yourself, take care of yourself, take care of yourself The work's piling on, you can't catch a break Body's worn, don't know how much you can take And you are freaking out Is this what life's about? Yet you keep going, putting others before you They take you for granted, they practically own you Well that is enough I know it'll be tough But please don't forget to take care of yourself, take care of yourself, take care of yourself

I followed you on Twitter Why don't you follow me back? I followed you on Twitter Why don't you follow me back? Is it your ego? Or you want to be popular? I'm a fan of you, why aren't you a fan of me? I care about you, why don't you care about me? I always have to know what you are thinking I always have to know what you are up to It seems you don't care a thing about me Why am I not important to you? I followed you on Twitter Why don't you follow me back? I followed you on Twitter Why don't you follow me back? Is it your ego? Or you want to be popular? You influence me, why can't I influence you? I would go to your funeral I don't think you'd go to mine I always have to know what you are thinking I always have to know what you are up to It seems you don't care a thing about me It seems I might as well not even exist I followed you on Twitter Why don't you follow me back? I followed you on Twitter Why don't you follow me back? Is it your ego? Or you want to be popular? I am one of a million sheep that hangs by your every word What's the point of following you? I'll think I'll just follow myself You feel better 'bout yourself?

My clothes were in style ten years ago I spit when I talk Don't chew with my mouth closed You don't like to take me out in public I have stinky breath Can I have some Mentos? And a little athlete's foot You don't want to see my toes You don't like to take me out in public I'm an embarrassment to everybody else I'm an embarrassment to everybody else but me I don't swim I just doggy paddle I don't laugh I just sort of cackle You don't like to take me out in public I get up on stage and try to sing you a song But my voice is off key It just comes out all wrong You pretend not to know me When we're in public I'm an embarrassment to everybody else I'm an embarrassment to everybody else but me

I'm the first on the dance floor I just don't really care Everyone else in the room just Sits there and stares I'm all bustin' a move like it's 1998 All the girls look like they're afraid All the guys just think I'm lame Junior's on his cellular phone just filming the whole thing Desperately hoping the footage will go viral, or something I'm going left, and I'm going right I'm going left, and I'm going right The DJ can't believe this sight The DJ can't believe this sight I'm lucid, completely sober, wide awake at night Some are laughing Some are loving it Others are full of fright And I don't care what I look like I'm just having fun And I don't care what I look like I'm just having fun I'm the first on the dance floor I haven't heard The Chicken Dance Take your Electric Slide and, and throw it in the trash I'm all groovin' and movin' in crazy, mysterious ways Everyone else is insecure but I haven't felt this great in days Now some brave folks surround me, and are thinking about joining But I don't even notice I'm so focused on my motions And when they finally join me You might think they annoy me But it's nice to have company And yes, it's now a party And I don't care what I look like I'm just having fun And I don't care what I look like I'm just having fun

We want to keep up, and they're having more fun And when we catch up, it's never enough The advertising says we gotta have it Not a necessity, but our life's easier All we want is stuff But all we get is stuff It's temporary stuff I'm sick of all this stuff We protect our things, like they'll always be there And lose them and sell them, like we never cared They say "one man's trash is another man's treasure" Well it all is trash 'cause nothing lasts forever All we want is stuff But all we get is stuff It's temporary stuff I'm sick of all this stuff We hold onto our things Sometimes better than ourselves We hold onto our things Sometimes better than our friends or our family That's not what life's about All we want is stuff But all we get is stuff It's temporary stuff I'm sick of all this stuff

Why'd you stop being my Facebook friend? Was it something I posted? Back in 2004 I signed up for The Facebook I had many friends there It made me feel popular But now I see no one on there Except for those whose views I share I guess I shared my views too much I forgot that most are bigots Why'd you stop being my Facebook friend? Was it something I posted (or shared)? Now it's 2013 Now isolated on Facebook Afraid to share my views They're easily offended Thought he was my friend in real life But guess he could not handle when I kicked my filter to the curb Let it all out, I was candid Why'd you stop being my Facebook friend? Was it something I posted (or shared)?

Stress and pressure pulling our hair out, it's tough We take it out on each other until we're beat up Hold it in and hide until we meet up, it's screwed up, so what is up? You and I Yes we'll make it We'll survive Yes we'll make it Keep the fight Yes we'll make it For what is right Yes we'll make it Down each other's throats, we don't remember why We forget to live and act like we are dying Don't you give up, wipe those tears, just please stop crying, keep trying, start buying that You and I Yes we'll make it We'll survive Yes we'll make it Keep the fight Yes we'll make it For what is right Yes we'll make it

There's only about 7 billion people in this world But my mommy said that I am exceptional She said if I work hard then all my dreams will come true She said "Do what you want- don't ever let someone stop you" The kids are so happy, their whole lives ahead of them They'll be doctors and lawyers, engineers and CEOs Or maybe not If you treat others well, then well, they'll treat you well, too After you die everyone will remember you If I write the best songs, then everyone will listen, won't you? Or maybe not What goes around comes around Play by the book and you'll win Or maybe not Maybe not

Spare Kidney 01:43
I've got a spare kidney, do you want it? I've got a spare kidney, do you want it? I think it works well Only time will tell I'd rather donate Than try to sell I've got a spare kidney, do you want it? I've got a spare kidney, do you want it? I don't have much to offer I have not much of value But there's something inside that I was born with And if you're family you just might get I've got a spare kidney, do you want it? I've got a spare kidney, do you want it? I think it works well Only time will tell I'd rather donate Than try to sell I've got a spare kidney, do you want it? I've got a spare kidney, do you want it? I'm worth more dead than alive But my organs are groovy I've got a spare kidney, do you want it? I've got a spare kidney, do you want it? I've got a spare kidney, do you want it? I've got a spare kidney, do you want it? I think it works well Only time will tell I'd rather donate Than try to sell I've got a spare kidney, do you-s

My baby cries cries cries for no reason and I haven't slept for days I fed her, burped her, changed her, swaddled her Bounced her, swung her, bather her, sung to her Nothing seems to work And I am quite beserk My baby cries cries cries for no reason and I haven't slept for days I drove her downtown, that worked at first But at the stoplight the crying returned What am I doing wrong? I even tried singing her this song.

I don't remember when I had my last vacation Or a day off Productivity Without fame or money There's no respect The things that matter most Are often neglected They have our souls Somebody tell me why do we work so hard? All this time and we have only gone this far Two steps forward, one step back, we're exhausted We work and work and work and work and then we die Somebody tell me why do we work so hard? All this time and we have only gone this far Two steps forward, one step back, we're exhausted We work and work and work and work and then we die All we do is survive, survive, survive When we really should thrive, should thrive, should thrive All we do is survive, survive, survive When we really should thrive, should thrive, should thrive All we do is I am just too busy To make myself break free From this machine I know that my career Does not define me dear It's just for dough Too much prosperity In the minority Why can't it stop? Somebody tell me why do we work so hard? All this time and we have only gone this far Two steps forward, one step back, we're exhausted We work and work and work and work and then we die Somebody tell me why do we work so hard? All this time and we have only gone this far Two steps forward, one step back, we're exhausted We work and work and work and work and then we die All we do is survive, survive, survive When we really should thrive, should thrive, should thrive All we do is survive, survive, survive When we really should thrive, should thrive, should thrive

Well I want to do this and I want to do that NO YOU CAN'T But if I practice a lot and I try really hard NO YOU CAN'T All my life, people telling me what I can't do All my life, people telling me what I can't do Well I want to do this and I want to do that NO YOU CAN'T But if I practice a lot and I try really hard NO YOU CAN'T But I've been working for years and I won't give up NO YOU CAN'T But I'm doing really well and I believe in myself NO YOU CAN'T All my life, people telling me what I can't do All my life, people telling me what I can't do I just realized… That now it's time for you to shut up, shut up Now it's time for you to shut up, shut up I can do this, and I can do that so back off I believe in myself, and I will succeed Forget you When I'm on top I will not take time to thank you Yes I can and yes I will not you

about

Electric Needle Room is an indie pop band from Kansas City that won’t go away. They keep releasing insanely catchy pop songs about things ranging from flossing to long nose hairs to the Presidents of the United States (not the band, the actual Presidents). Their seventh full-length album gets personal. Because they are so clever, they decided to name it “It’s Getting Personal.” If you want to defeat Darth Vader, Wal-mart, and MTV, you must listen to this record. Heck, if you like it, you can even promote it. Thank you for reading this. Love,
Matt

From Ron Trembath of Trainwreck'd Society:
"On their latest effort, "It’s Getting Personal" (technically ENR’s 7th album), they bring more of the brilliance I have held to be self-evident. As you could imagine from a band featuring a guy who wrote a song about every president in history (even Millard Fillmore for chrissakes), the storytelling is absolutely amazing. Simple pop tunes about real life, all in realm of bands like They Might Be Giants or Barenaked Ladies. There are songs about Twitter, Facebook, dancing like no one is watching, simply surviving, and so much more. Yes, It’s Getting Personal is another brilliant display of the finest indie pop group with a brilliant grace of storytelling to come out of Kansas since, well, probably ever. I seriously could never get enough of these two. Their songs, without a doubt, create some of the most fun listening experiences I have ever had."
